About Me
- Name: Maureen A. Mayrand
- Location: Waterford, WI
I am a senior at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee majoring in Print- Journalism. I've been working my way through college as a bartender in my hometown. I enjoy what I do because it is fun and I make great money doing it, however I am afraid that being too comfortable with my job (it's going on 8 years) will make me just another bartender with a degree going to waste. I plan on avoiding that situation by moving to Colorado to write for the Denver Post, otherwise I will be stuck in Tichigan my whole life.

Hi
I read your entry, and I too have been puzzling over the significance of the flag in Piero's painting. I'm writing an essay about the painting as part of my Biblical Studies BA.
I'm not 100% sure of this, but I think that the flag is a reference to England's patron saint, St. George. George was a Christian martyr. It's only a guess, but I think that it's a reference to martyrdom. I think that the Italians would have been aware of the story of George as he is, amongst other things, also patron saint of Milan.
I'd be interested to know what you think of this idea, so if you like, you can email me at DarrenMWinter@Gmail.com. Look forward to hearing from you.
